IMLEA Alert on 2 pieces of current proposed legislation which could negatively affect middle level educators and education:
1. On Jan. 7th the Indiana State Board of Education agreed on changes to the current REPA Licensing rules – one of the changes proposes that “ the middle school generalist license be eliminated” – see the following link to the complete summary
http://www.doe.in.gov/stateboard/2012-01-04/summary_of_changes_to_proposed_licensing_rule.pdf
2. “At the November 7th State Board of Education meeting, a proposed rule was passed to change the way letter grades are assigned to schools Here’s the problem: The proposed rules incorporate a clear injustice to elementary and middle schools which must be corrected. Low school grades can produce state takeovers by private corporations.
